Based on the award-winning, best-selling book, The Student Leadership Challenge® by Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner, The Student Leadership Challenge Experience takes the wisdom of The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership® and nuclear-infuses it with the high-energy, engaging activities, and relevant facilitation style of Collegiate Empowerment to bring you a leadership event that will impact your student leaders like never before!

“Leadership is the art of mobilizing others to want to struggle for shared aspirations.” That’s what we know after 40 years of research. And now you’re asking: But HOW? Once students have developed the mindset and skill set of personal leadership, how do you get other people to WANT to follow you? How do you get people to move toward a COMMON PURPOSE? How do you get people to feel ENERGIZED to work together and get things done that everyone can feel PROUD of? This is what The Student Leadership Challenge® Experience is all about.

  • Do you want your child to develop Individual Leadership Style?
  • Do you want them to Lead by enabling others to grow?
  • Do you want your child to know how to build a strong and exciting personal vision that can enrol, share and build teams?
  • And do you want them to learn to challenge their own existing thought processes?

We’re happy you’re here and we hope you will find the information on this website a helpful tool as you begin, or continue, your leadership journey.

WHAT IS IT?

The Student Leadership Challenge Experience takes the wisdom of The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership® and nuclear-infuses it with the high-energy, engaging, and relevant teaching style of Collegiate Empowerment to deliver a leadership program directly to students that will impact your campus like never before.

Join us on the The Student Leadership Challenge Experience and liberate the leader in every student!

HOW IS IT DIFFERENT?

The Student Leadership Challenge Experience is not a “one and done” leadership development seminar. Instead, it’s a leadership experience that’s actually fun, entertaining, and full of information with lasting effects for your entire campus. It creates a shared leadership language, through The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership, among your student clubs and organizations so student leaders can talk about leadership issues and run their organizations in a way that fosters collaboration and sustainability throughout the school year and for years to come!

The concepts are complex and challenging enough to change the way your students think about leadership, while being easy enough to break down in a way that is engaging for both brand new leaders and seasoned veterans alike. No more worrying about how to meet the needs of both returning leaders and first-time leaders with one program!

Participants will study, discuss, and experiment with The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership:

DOES YOUR CHILD CONSIDER HIMSELF/HERSELF AS A LEADER?

WE BELIEVE THEY ARE.

Leadership is not about position or title, power or authority, celebrity or wealth, family or genetics. It’s also not just something for a chosen few. Leadership is everyone’s business! Leadership is about relationships, personal credibility, and what you do. It’s about an observable set of skills and abilities that are useful wherever you are. As a skill, leadership can be strengthened, honed, and enhanced, given the motivation and desire, along with practice and feedback, role models, and coaching. If students find themselves in a challenging situation that requires setting a good example for others, looking ahead to the future, taking initiative to change the status quo, building teamwork and trust, and encouraging others to succeed, then they are in a situation that requires leadership. What is required of them in this situation is that they step forward and become the best leader they can be.

The first place to look for leadership is within oneself. The Student Leadership Practices Inventory (Student LPI) is a tool that enables students to take that look—to look at the skills they now have an to build practices that actual leaders employ, The Student Leadership Challenge program offers young leaders the opportunity to measure their current leadership strengths and weaknesses, to make a plan for improvement, and to commit to growing as a leader.

Ours is an imperfect world. And yet there remains the promise that students like the ones you teach will become the transformative leaders of today and tomorrow. It’s their vision, their values, and their beliefs that will shape the direction of our world. We need more exemplary leaders, and we need them now more than ever. There is so much extraordinary work that needs to be done. We hope that The Student Leadership Challenge will help your students feel more empowered, be more capable to accept these challenges, and strengthen their will to persist in making a difference on campus and in the world.

LET YOUR CHILD LEARN ABOUT THEMSELVES

The Student Leadership Practices Inventory (Student LPI) 360 Online approaches leadership as a measurable, learnable, and teachable set of behaviors. From classrooms to athletics to student government meetings, Kouzes and Posner’s Student LPI has helped thousands of young people assess their leadership potential and cultivate the skills necessary to become exemplary leaders. The assessment tool consists of Self and anonymous Observer questionnaires for the student leader and those who have observed the student in action. Each survey features 30 statements based on The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership.

Through participation in the Student LPI 360 Online, students will be better able to:

  • Understand the specific behaviors and actions of exemplary leadership
  • Identify their personal strengths and areas for improvement as leaders
  • Determine actions for becoming better leaders by increasing the frequency and comfort with which they engage in various leadership behaviors
  • Plan how to share their results and learning from the Student LPI feedback with others in their organization
